What is a claim?

An auto insurance claim is a request made to an insurance company for compensation for damages sustained after a car accident, or for representation or intervention on the insured’s behalf when they are liable for damages.

Claim process for Motor Insurance in Kenya.
  • Report the incidence to the police and the insurer.  Ensure you get a police abstract from the police.
  • Documenting the incident. Take pictures, record the other car details including the number plates.
  • Move the car to an insurance assessment center for the assessment.
  • Fill and submit the necessary documents which include filled claim form, valid driver’s license, ID and logbook, photos of the accident and police abstract.
  • Assessment and repair; insurance company assess the extent of the damages and report for authorization of repair.
  • Once the repair is done, a release letter is issued to the insured and the garage.
